Self-represented litigants are individuals who are not represented by a lawyer in a court case. Sometimes these individuals are also referred to as pro se litigants.
A person should always attempt to hire a qualified lawyer to represent him or her in a Family Court case. Family Court cases are often confusing and complex, so a self-represented individual may be at a significant disadvantage in attempting to present his or her case to the court.
